Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia is a rare disease of myelodysplastic syndrome and it
was reported in several authors, but in Korea literature, one case was reported,
previously.
Recently the authors experienced a case of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia
terminating to acute monoblastic leukemia. In this case, initial peripheral blood findings
were
severe anemia and increase number of monocytes & promonocyes, and first bone
marrow findings were hypercellular marrow with erythroid hyperplasia and increase
number of promonocytes and monocytes. And dysgranulopoiesis, dyserythropoiesis, and
dysmega-karyocy opoiesis are found. After five months, in peripheral blood smears
anemia, thrombocytopenia, and leukocytosis with predominant of monoblasts and
promonocytes were noted. And second bone marrow aspiration showed also
hypercellularity, but .mono blasts and promonocytes were significantly increased,
